Tips For Getting Past A Plateau In Weight Loss
The Dreaded Weight Loss Plateau
With most people during a weight loss journey they will hit a plateau where they just can’t seem to lose anymore weight. A plateau may last for a few days or sometimes it might last weeks. So what can you do to get past that plateau and start losing weight again?
Increase Exercise
If you don’t enjoy exercising then you might not like this idea, but usually it only needs to be for a few days. If, for example, your exercise consists of a 30 minute daily walk, then increase that daily walk to 60 minutes. If you do this for three or four days it is often enough to get your metabolism moving again and start losing weight again.
Today Tonights Story on Dukan Diet Plus 2 Others
Tonight I was watching Today Tonight who had a story comparing the top three diets. The three diets being looked at are:
- The Dukan Diet
- The Mediteranean Diet
- The Fat Belly Diet
Here is an extract from the story:
On average we stack on 2-5kg during the colder months and it is easier to gain than lose so which diet is the best going around?
The Mediterranean Diet is based on food eaten in Greece 60 years ago. It contains lots of fish, vegetables and olive oil, full of anti-oxidants and healthy monounsaturated fats.
The Dukan Diet is from France and follows a menu of no, then low, carbohydrates, and high protein, only gradually adding vegetables, fruit and bread.
The Flat Belly Diet was developed in America two years ago. It is claimed to be an anti-bloat, science-based, no-hunger, rapid weight loss plan, targeted at tummy flab.
Like with all things, different people have different opinions and Judy Davie, who runs the Food Coach, preferred the Flat Belly diet as the best out of the three. Head of Obesity Research at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute at Monash University, Dr John Dixon, preferred the Dukan Diet for a fast weight loss.
They had examples of two ladies who are doing the Flat Belly diet and I’m not sure if they are going to give future updates on their progress. What was a bit disappointing with the story is that they didn’t have different people doing the different diets, which might be a better way to compare the diets if you have three people all starting a diet each at the same time and monitor their weight loss.
