Motivation – How to Keep it For Weight Loss
How To Keep Motivated During Your Weight Loss Journey
Keeping motivated is one of the biggest obstacles when it comes to losing weight. It isn’t easy trying to lose weight and whether you are exercising, dieting or both, I’m sure there will be times along the way where you feel like giving up. Any diet will involved doing without some sort of food that you love and going without is often difficult to keep doing.
When you first start out on a diet it is usually easy as we all start off with the best intentions and in a positive state of mind. Unfortunately that positive state of mind doesn’t hang around too long and most people will give up on their diet within around three weeks of starting.
So how do you keep motivated?
Here are a few tips that can help you to keep motivated during your weight loss journey:
- Keep a food diary. Sometimes it can be a pain in the butt to write down every single thing that you eat, but by doing this you really notice it when you slip up and eat a bag of crisps or something naughty. Seeing it in writing can help you to get back on track when you do slip up.
- Take a photo of yourself before you start the diet. If you are overweight then chances are that you don’t like how you look. Take a photo of yourself (in your underwear if you want the big effect) and hang it up somewhere where you will see it every day and remind yourself why you are on this diet.
- Tell your family and friends that you are going on a diet. If your family and friends know that you are on a diet then you are more likely to stick with it so you don’t look like a quitter to them. They can also talk to you about it when you need someone to talk to and encourage you to keep going.
- Start a blog. Let’s go one step further and tell the world about your weight loss journey. The good thing about writing your progress in a blog is that it helps to keep you motivated by sharing your progress with others. It also helps you to see when you do have slip ups just like writing in a diary.
- Grab a partner. If you know someone else that needs to lose weight or is always trying to lose weight, then why not do it together. If you take on the weight loss journey with someone else you can be a good influence on each other and help drive each other on and keep each other motivated.
Just remember, that with any weight loss diet or program, you will always have your bad days when you feel like giving up. Just make a note to yourself that you are just having a bad day and that you will get past it and keep on going. Don’t let that one bad day make you give up, accept that you had a bad day and move on.
Good luck!
